Behaviour Services

Behaviour varies between contexts, motivations, emotions and individual temperaments/moods.

If you are looking to change or modify an existing unwanted behaviour, then the following behaviour services have been created to help both you and your dog do this utilising a combination of management and training techniques.

It's important for owners to understand that anyone can refer to themselves as a dog trainer or even a behaviourist.

As a pet owner seeking professional training/behaviour assistance, its important to research professional standards before contacting them to work with you and your dog.

I am an Animal Training Instructor practitioner of the

Animal Behaviour and Training Council, and member of the Professional Association of Canine Trainers.

Therefore you can be sure I am a well qualified trainer following strict guidelines to provide ethical and science led training methodologies.

As well as working as a Rehabilitation Trainer & Behaviour Advisor at Blue Cross, I have achieved a Foundation Science degree in Applied Canine Behaviour and Training from The University of Hull (level 5).

Whilst this provides me a level of expertise and experience in canine behaviour modification, I am not a Clinical Animal Behaviourist or Veterinary Behaviourist. I am confident with my ability of behaviour modification and am comfortable to refer behaviour cases beyond my expertise where appropriate.

This service provides owners with management options, training techniques and increased skill-set needed to manage and modify undesired behaviour such as reactivity, anxieties, excessive mouthing, resource defence behaviour and confidence.

How it works:

- Use the contact form below to get in touch & request this service.

- You will receive a behaviour booking form to fill out in detail. This form will ask questions surrounding the history of the behaviour & context as well as routine questions such as diet and daily routine.

- Upon return of the form to Claudi Paws, I may require a veterinary health check to to rule out contributing medical problems as well as veterinary history. This can be a direct conversation between myself and your vet should you wish.

- You will receive an email confirming your choice of service, choice of availability for the online behaviour consultation and payment detail.

- Booking of the in-person sessions can be made during the online behaviour consultation.

- After your final in-person session you will receive your summary email with option to book additional sessions.

The behaviour consultation:

- During this call we will discuss more in-depth your dogs behaviour and your expectations as the owner.

- Explanation will be given as to why I believe this behaviour is occurring as well as advice to best manage and minimise the practice of behaviour.

- A summary email will be sent to further explain what we have discussed and

provide you with management techniques to minimise chances of the unwanted behaviour to occur. It will also contain detailed handouts to further explain your dogs behaviour and prepare you for your in-person sessions.

Continuing the service to the in-person session:

- Best organised within 4 weeks of the advice call.

- Our initial in-person session will consist of my observations if your dogs normal behaviour in a chosen environment (home, secure field, familiar walk). This is so I can best understand your dog, their usual behaviours, body language and motivation of the undesired behaviour

- During this session I may ask further questions to further diagnose the issue as well as explaining my thoughts for a diagnosis.

- I will provide you with training techniques to begin your training journey.

- After this session a summary email will be sent to summarise what we have discussed, and will contain detailed handouts to further explain your dogs behaviour and progress your training for our next session.

The in-person follow up session:

- Best organised within 3-6 weeks of the initial session.

- During this session I will assess how the training is going, and how we can progress further.

- I will further advise you how to progress your training and make any necessary adjustments.

- After this session you will receive your final summary email to summarise what we have discussed, and will contain detailed handouts to further explain your dogs behaviour and progress your training. There will be option to continue your training with more in-person sessions or behaviour consultation. Which avenue of continued training depends on the behaviour seen. For example, reactivity can require multiple in-person sessions whereas resource defence behaviour may require one additional online behaviour consultation for support.
